Chez L'Ami Jean dinner with my sister!

I am immensely blessed to have a sister like mine in my life. On our recent trip to Paris it was really great to have quality time with her in one of my favourite cities in the world. I wanted to show her my favourite spots and restaurants. We were so lucky that we were able to get into the restaurant L’ami Jean. When fashion week happens most of the restaurants get so full that it’s almost impossible to get a reservation.

I love this little restaurant because of its no nonsense delicious straight forward approach to French cuisine. It’s doesn’t have to rely of bubbles, foams, bell and whistles. It’s just really good food and each time I am here I am never disappointed. We got a late table seating and my sister and I were not in the mood for the degustation menu which is fabulous but quite heavy. So we just had some earthy and rich wild mushroom soup which was so indicative of the Fall season. Venisse had the baked fish and I had a gorgeous pork chop that had these wonderful flowers and unique spices that really brightened up my plate and evening. We had to make room for dessert because it is a crime to not eat the rice pudding in L’ami jean when you are there. In fact I think the rice pudding is actually worth flying to Paris for! LOL!

It was just nice to have my sister all to myself. I often say that part of my success is attributed to my family and my sister is definitely the reason why were all good. Thank you Venisse for everything and we really ought to do this more often.
