I was in Taipei just for 3 days and in those 3 days not once did I ever eat badly. What I love about their food profile there was the lightness. The flavour was very subtle. Not too salty, not too spicy but done so light and subtle. I also noticed a very clean taste that felt very fresh and really wonderful. Of the dinners that I had there, I enjoyed the traditional restaurant called Shin Yeh http://www.shinyeh.com.tw/Content/En/stores.aspx I was invited by my friend Marissa Ramos Lu to dinner here and it was really delicious. We had several dishes and each one was a stand put. I loved on particular the simple clam soup which was really sweet and delicate. I also enjoyed the mussel stir fry as the texture was beautiful. When you eat there don’t fail to order the mochi dessert and the almond jelly. The almond jelly is really quite unique and memorable.
After dinner we were so full that we decided to walk it off at the famous Shilin night market. This is perhaps one of the largest night markets in Taiwan. Again because of the rainy weather there was very few people there and this was a good for us as we were able to walk around with ease. There is always a silver lining. It is just how one chooses to look at things.
