On a most recent trip to Tokyo I discovered this little restaurant that was just so awesome that I have to share this with all of you. I first saw the restaurant on the IG feed of my friend Pauline Juan and I knew right there and there that I had to make a reservation.
The restaurant is called YORONIKU https://tabelog.com/en/tokyo/A1306/A130602/1304297... reservations is recommended and if you love BEEF than this is the place for you. The restaurant is very understated located 3 floord down the building. They have an english menu and the servers speak english. My family and I all went for the dinner tasting menu which was very satisfying but not over the top. I also appreciated that it was very low carb. There were only two presence of carbohydrates on the menu a teaspoon of rice and quarter cup of soba so this made me really smile.
The whole experience is a beautiful journey of the beef. Each part so delicate and light that you begin to dream about it the minute you leave the restaurant. We began with a tofu cream dish which was like a cleanser of sorts. Then an assortment of pickles arrived. Each more delicious than the next. Then a series of cold dishes from beef tripe to beef tar-tar to a finely think piece of meat from the shoulder part of the cow. All so sublime and beautiful. Than came a series of single courses of meat that felt like it had a good life as each was more memorable than the next.
The flavours and textures would vary dependent on what part of the cow it came from. I particularly enjoyed the fillet mignon. I loved that each course was a compliment to the next and you don’t get overwhelmed as it was so delicate and subtle. The finale of the dish was this small peace of meat kissed by a sukiyaki like sauce mixed in with a small egg yolk and generously topped with an incredible amount of black truffles! I WAS IN AWE! I almost cried with delight and glee! The dinner could have ended there but we were given this saved ice that just was the percent antidote to the meal.
It was the perfect welcome dinner and I was so glad that I was able to share this with my family. I honestly cannot wait for all of you to try it and I for one already made a reservation with Nix in April! LOL!
